I'm running intel 2.6.1 driver (gentoo) on my thinkpad t61p. I
generally use the laptop connected to an external monitor with
external usb mouse/keyboard. Now when I unplug the usb hub that has
the mouse and keyboard connected X hangs.

longer lets me resize my LVDS screen. (Very useful when cloning to
projectors that don't match my native resolution of 1680x1050).

I just moved from Ubuntu 8.04 (32 bit) to Gentoo (64 bit) on my
Thinkpad t61p. After doing so, I've had X crash when toggling xine to
fullscreen (which wasn't happening in ubuntu). This happens with both
amd64 and ~amd64 versions of the intel driver. I guess I'm asking if
