Probably nothing beats a good TV when it comes to de-interlacing etc.,
so it makes sense to preserve the broadcast signal as
aviour until I spotted this one for the ATI driver.
The symptoms described in this bug report are generic symptoms of a GPU
lockup, which can be caused by an infinite number of different things.
If the problem you're seeing only occurs after a cold boot, it does

the libdrm2 package. If that's not it, it would be interes

radeonhd. The radeon driver is known to work on at least on Linux/PPC,
Linux/SPARC (and probably other non-x86 Linux architectures as well) as
well as BSDs and probably Solaris. I don't expect this to be very
different for radeonhd.
