This feature interests me a lot. I'm keen to test features in the next
branch but am slightly hesitant to do away with stable. Is there a
reasonable way to have both versions available on a linux system without
clashes?

today I used the kinetic scroll that you implemented to browse a 100
pages PDF. It worked very well.
