What version is your linux kernel?
I had this problem with a logitech usb mouse when using a 2.2 kernel.
The mouse would freeze up whenever there was any load at all, and on a
2Ghz P4. Upgrading my kernel to 2.4.19 fixed the problem. This was
with debian sid.
It's kernel 2.4.19. My
Man Xserver and look for -fp.

SUMMARY: Display does not work unless Option NoAccel used.
Installed 4.2.99.3 to see if support present for this card.
Previous versions (4.2.0, 4.2.1) did not recognize it. This card
is present in IBM Laptop model T23 (2647-4MU).

On my Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300 laptop I get pixmap corruption.
(I think pixmap is the right word - all the icons etc)
