Hi XPerts (and XFree Support Team), I sit with a rather new Dell Optiplex GX240 on my desk and I am trying to get XFree86 to work. Currently Debian 3.0r0 is installed. I have tried with two different versions of XFree86 to get the ball rolling
- XFree86 4.1.0 as found in Debian 3.0r0 stable - XFree86 4.2.1 as found on http://people.debian.org/~branden/ (XFree86 4.2.1-0pre1v1=) Both versions give me trouble by mentioning (see the full log in attached file "X.log"): [snip] (EE) No devices attached By issuing a "X -configure" a report is printed XFree86 has found a valid card configuration Unfortunately the appropriate data has not been added to xf86PciInfo.h. Please forward 'scanpci -v' to the XFree86 support team. While unable to find the e-mail adress for the XFree86 support team I send this mail to the xpert mailing list instead hoping to solve my problems. Included are four files: X.log - stdout and stderr from X while running "X >& X.log " in zsh XF86Config-4 - the XFree configuration used scanpci-v.txt - output of 'scanpci -v' lspci-vv.txt - output of 'lspci -vv' (that identifies the card as a ATI Rage 128 Pro TF) Are the next logical steps to wait for a fix of the header file "xf86PciInfo.h" of the XFree86 Team and then recompile XFree86 from CVS? kind regards Flemming
