I've been trying for the last few days to find the spot where the X
stipple pattern is defined. I would like to make it all black (so all 1
or 0, I'll experiment). I'm having trouble finding which file(s) it's
actually defined in. Any help would be appreciated. I seem to be going
in circl
I've just spotted xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/xaa/xaaPCache.c .
In 4.2.0 at line 1075 StippleMasks[4] is defined. Could this be it?

Hello again!
Could anyone tell me briefly what happened to libpex5 and libxie between
4.1.0 and 4.2.0? They still have directories under xc/programs/Xserver,
but they don't actually product the libraries anymore as far as I can
tell. Thanks!

About 5 months ago I would have agreed with you completely. Since then,
I've downloaded the Microsoft fonts available on their site. When
installed, they render identically (except for a few places) as those in
Windows without anti-aliasing. Verdana and Times New Roman really make a
difference
He was talking about truetype. The concern was about hinting, ie true
type rendering.

I was wondering if someone could clarify the difference between the
server XF86_Mach64 with the driver 'ati' and XF86_SVGA with the driver
"r128". They both seem to work with various cards interchangably, and

Try using the display function button on your keyboard and cycle through
the output options while in the console. It might help.

I've been playing with Dual and Quad head setups. I have noticed a bug
with the second head on every card. The bug is that the DDC information
supplied for the second head is always the same as the information

I've been using X 4.2.0 that I've compiled for over a month now with a
PS2 mouse. I've only recently noticed that changing the mouse
acceleration and sensitivity has no effect in either KDE, Gnome, xset,
or anything. I'm not certain how to approach debugging it.

Debian's 4.1 will handle mouse scrolling right out of the package.
There's nothing to configuring it. What you may be using is the wrong
mouse driver.

After a successful build and install over top of X4.1.0 on Debian, I
tried running startx.
It crash-burned after showing the cursor on the following:

cound not open default font 'fixed'

Ah, figured it out.
No fonts included in cvs xc. mkfontdir spit out a bunch of errors and
most of the fonts were 20 bytes.

I occasionally get this too with a regular Microsoft wheelmouse, using
the IMPS2 driver. I'm not certain of the reason. I have a Matrox G450,
