I'm running mandrake linux 8.1, kernel 2.4.17 (with sisfb and sis-drm patched), XFree86-4.1.0 (with a new sis driver).
I found these drivers here.
Many people report success in running games with this drivers on the sis 630:Quake, Descent, Tuxracer...
I am trying to run such games on my machine (wich others use with succes: a ASUS A1330 laptop).

But here the games freeze the pc.

At the beginnig I could not even run glxgears. So I installed the original XFree86 tgz distribution over my mandrake XFree86 rpm disribution.
Now I can run many mesa demos. But not the games. They sill freeze my pc.
Tuxracer for example: it runs, I can see the initial screen (falling snow with music) for a couple of seconds. Then the pc freezes: but I can still hear music. I need to power down the pc with the button!

I suppose it is a X/DRI configutration problem becouse all the people who manage to run games use slck or debian: I think mandrake has sonthing wrong in 3D libraries configuration, something that comes out using SiS drivers.

Can someone help me debugging this mess?
What files do I need and where MUST I put them? (libGL* & co)

glxinfo reports that my rendrer is the SiS driver
XFree log report successfull dri setup
many, but not all demos work (and the run fast!) (and even some 3D game/app) works.
