Hello fellow users of XFree86 I followed the discussions in the treads 'all color cells preallocated in pseudoColor mode in 4.2.0' and 'Allocated colormaps and 4.2.0', so I know what the problem is.
But my problem is that I have to go further now with my developments. What is the best way to continue now? Shall I use a version 4.0.2? Where can I get that when I am using SuSE 7.3? Shall is export the latest version from CVS? Is that stable enough? Shall I wait for an offical release in which the RENDER built-in module is adapted? In one of the threads Keith Packard stated that "Current XFree86 CVS reduces the RENDER extension's colormap appetite to a much more modest portion". What does that mean? How many colours will be available for applications? I need about 120 colours. All information and suggestions on the subject are welcome.
