I've noticed recently that the X server doesn't seem to restore text mode properly, if I boot using the "vga=030a" (132x43 text mode) Linux kernel option. This video card is a Matrox G450, with XFree86 4.1.0 on Debian "unstable" (i386). The symptom is that my monitor reports "Invalid Scan Freque
