Wine never promises to run anything Windows. There are programs that
won't run with Wine. Check the link below -- there's an app database

Modify settin
The solution is simple. Install the addon Thunderbrowse, tell it you
want to fix which browser opens when you click on Tbird links, give it
the full path Chrome (usually /opt/google/chrome/google-chrome), press
and click on Next. You're done. A matter of minutes, and it
fixes the problem.

Now try accessing your media files off the external drive with VLC,
drawing data from the target directory.
