This is kind of funny to me; I've been asking fellow Zappa-heads on this
list whether they've read this book for quite a while, at least
occasionally. I can't tell if Frank read it. It's a great book and everybody
should read it, though. Then read Brave New World. And 1984. And

Would you like Jazz Zappa, Guitar Zappa, Classical Zappa...?
Hot Rats, Drowning Witch, Chunga's Revenge, Apostrophe, Best Band You Never
Did Here, Sleep Dirt, Baby Snakes, Bongo Fury, Freak Out!...the list is
endless.
Personally I love all the above and more. I'm sure someone on the list
Thereis no easy answer to your question, Kim; FZ has over 65 released
titles, many of them multiple disk sets. There's a LOT of music to choose from
for this recommendation...
I could name a release or two, someone else could respond "no, try these",
and name another couple. It's almost
I'd suggest hitting another title from that period. Try You Can't Do That On
Stage Anymore Vol. 3; it's a double disc set, one of which is devoted
entirely to the 1984 touring band. The other disc is also very good and is
more varied, band-wise. One will be familiar, the other a nice sampler.
Yes One Size Fits All would be could and or Sheik Yerbouti

For further Z-related fun, please
Oh Kim you poor thing, LOL!
Welcome to Zappa! I would recommend Lather (pronounced Leather - I
can't put the umlaut over the letter A in Lather). It's a 3 disc set
that really covers much of Zappa's territories - it's well rounded!
Best,
Tim

If you don't want to shell out all the $ for Lather (just yet),
Sheik Yerbouti is a great start too! It got me hooked and now I own
every Zappa CD - boy was my wife happy about that little
expenditure! LOL!
