ORISSA Jul 16, 2007 Rescue Dalit youths from Malaysia: SHRC Saturday July 14 2007 10:45 IST PARADIP: State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has directed the State Government for the rescue and release of more than 25 unemployed Dalit youths of Kendrapara district, who are living a miserable life in Malaysia. Sources alleged that the Dalit youths were lured by a Bhubaneswar-based placement agency with suitable remuneration and other facilities in Malaysia and were sent with job offer. However, instead of getting jobs, they have been facing a lot of trouble and living a life of hell without payment of dues as per commitment. Social activist RK Jena has claimed that the Dalit youths were duped after their arrival in the alien land and were treated as bonded labour. ''One youth, who managed to escape from his employer's clutches narrated his three month- long ordeal and the plight of his colleagues who are still in Malaysia,'' he added. Jena has informed that the youths are mostly from Dhola, Kurutunga, Charigaon, Chotimangalpur, Nahanga and other villages of Kendrapara district.
