Position Responsibilities: Develop new product designs with responsibility for design initiation through product market release. The primary areas of excellence for this position are the generation of measurable and verifiable product specifications, and generation and evaluation of corresponding product designs and BOM’s. Responsible for the overall design through market release; Serve as key technical staff; Mentor and guide other engineers and technicians; Assist in determining system level objectives and work in cross functional development teams. This position requires frequent contact with customers and other functional areas i.e. ventures, clinical, marketing, regulatory, manufacturing and suppliers. Work under minimal supervision and provide work direction for others when necessary. Required Qualifications: The minimum requirements of this position include a B.S. in engineering or appropriate technical discipline (Mech Eng, Materials Science or equivalent); Minimum of eight years product development; Minimum of three years in design of medical products; knowledge of product development; manufacturing, clinical, and regulatory requirements; strong influence/communication skills; planning and organization competency; knowledge of basic statistical tools (Weibull, DOE, Monte Carlo) and FMEA techniques.
