In the SUNWrcapr package.

Well, how common are zone-entered processes? And how should they be
accounted for anyway? (What sort of examples do we have?)
Thanks!

What am I overlooking here?

in OpenSolaris, that might catch some folks by surprise.
For me, it's not just the memory savings. It's the fact that I can modify
the shared filesystems in the global zone and have the changes
immediately visible in the zones that can be convenien
to 2.5 (that I've come across
so far) - and they're going to be the hardest to deal with.

the global zone?
One thing I've found to be true though: either a machine is all zoned, or not.
It gets horribly confusing to have real activity in the global zone,
where you can
half see the non-global zones, so if you have zones on a machine then it's
easier to run nothing in the glob
mmit
And then do
zonecfg -z zone_name -f input_file
(What I actually do is have a skeleton input file for each type of zone that
has parameter substitution run on it to create the above input file, but any
mechanism to build up the file would do.)

That's why df does ignore nfs mounts by default and you have the -Z option to
force it to go look. I've not yet come across a case where df -Z has
told me anything
useful - what problem are you trying to solve by running df -Z?

I presume that zone clones get you quite a lot of the sharing back.

I think what I'm saying is this: what can zonestat tell us about what additional

Butting in here, it would work just fine for me.

d with snoop seems a bit long winded to
me. I work out which host a zone is on using 'arp -a' - the zones
on that machine, including the global zone, have SP in the Flags

And should the username truncation problem be addressed as well?
(And if so, done as part of this or separately?) I presume this is the

and if you run ps/top/prstat/whatever in the global zone then
the usernames reported are accurate.

(The same is true of usernames, which also get truncated.
That's bad as well, but at least you can see the history there
as usernames have traditionally been limited to 8 characters,
but zone names can and often are much longer.)
