not just the memory savings. It's the fact that I can modify
the shared filesystems in the global zone and have the changes
immediately visible in the zones that can be convenient.

That's bad as well, but at least you can see the history there
as usernames have traditionally been limited to 8 characters,
but zone names can and often are much longer.)
