I've written a proposal for adding a feature to ZODB to make it easier
for applications to use multiple databases together:

This is needed in the short term to fix the current breakage of
Zope mounts in a sane way.

Great idea.
When ZCatalog is used with very big site any small changes rebuild index and Data.fs
growth incontrollabe.
If we can use other storage to store some objects (ZCatalog) it will be more easy
support thouse sites.
