You guys are tough! I was browsing our collection of 250+ tech tips submitted by searchDatabase members and noticed a recent downward spiral in the ratings. Is this a true reflection of the quality of the tips, or are you all just in a bad mood after the holidays? Do me a favor: pick a poorly-rated tip, and email me with the reason why you think it was rated as such -- and how it could be improved. I'll highlight the most constructive criticisms in an upcoming Note from the Editor.

What tech tips, you say? For the newbie, here is a rundown of some of our more popular tip categories:

Finally, don't forget about our soon-to-be-launched Ask the Database Experts newsletter. Tip of the Week:
CORRECTED 10 JANUARY: This impressive Oracle script -- created in the Bourne Shell on HP-UX 11.0 -- is intended to analyze, report and fix problems associated with Core Advanced Replication. It is an interactive script that can fix and report the status of advanced replication on a one-way basis. The list of replication directions you can fix is dynamically updated depending on how many databases you have in your repgroup.
