by Tim DiChiara, Senior Site Editor

As 2003 draws to a close, one thing is almost certain: this year, your data management systems became more complex, not simpler. New approaches to managing this heterogeneity -- EAI, EII, SOI, web services, etc -- are coming out fast and furious. Confused yet? In the past few months, we've recorded several high quality educational webcasts with some of the leading integration experts in the industry. If you are ramping up to tackle an integration project, these presenations will be invaluable. As always, they are free to SearchDatabase.com members!

  • Understanding your data: The key to successful data integration - Join David Linthicum, the world's number one integration guru and author of "Next Generation Application Integration: From Simple Information to Web Services," and learn how to successfully implement a data or application integration project by understanding and leveraging the meaning of your data.
  • Seven steps to an integrated enterprise - Join Laura Broan, best-selling author of "Integration Models: Templates for Business Transformation," as she desribes a simple and reliable process for delivering integrated systems across any enterprise.
  • Integration of globally diverse data - In this webcast, author Jim Bean will describe the rationale for global data integration and provide several options for capturing, validating, processing and integrating globally diverse data.
  • Database cross-training for a heterogeneous world - What applications and technologies do you need to maintain a competitive edge in an increasingly heterogeneous database market? Listen as Oracle expert Guy Harrison, SQL Server guru Kevin Kline and DB2 authority Deb Jenson discuss data integration and other key database industry trends.
  • Semantic information management for data integration in the enterprise - In early January, look for a presentation by writer and software architect Joshua Fox, who will discuss the benefits of managing your enterprise information assets -- such as relational databases, XML, and COBOL -- using a semantic methodology, allowing for easy identification and reuse of existing assets.

If you are looking for even more information, check out this week's Featured Topic (below) or our webcast library, which is stocked full of integration advice and tips direct from the top authors and gurus in the industry.

(On a technical note, if you're having problems viewing these webcasts, be sure to disable your pop-up blockers, adjust your cookie settings to receive Broadcast.com media, and configure your firewall to allow streaming media/audio.)
