My favorite nomination thus far in our first annual Data Management Products of the Year awards: the DELETE key. "As long as people keep saving stupid data for a stupid amount of time," the nominator wrote.
How true! Nontheless, that is not quite what we're looking for. Here are some clarifications based on more serious questions:
- Users, consultants, and vendors can submit their favorite product, as long as it debuted or was substantially upgraded between Sept. 30, 2003 and Oct. 1, 2004.
- The categories are: Database Administration (monitoring, backup, recovery, security, reporting, etc); Database Development (design, modeling, testing, debugging, etc); Integration (database/application/information integration, etc);
and Business Intelligence (OLAP, analytics, data mining, etc).
- Product suites, inidividual tools, utilities, and even freeware and shareware will be accepted.
- Our experts and editirial staff will judge the entries and the winners will be announced January 17, 2005.
- The key criteria by which we'll be judging the entries is innovation. The awards are meant to celebrate products that are outstanding examples of innovative technological advancement for users.
- Users: send me an email with your nomination. Vendors: please fill out this online application form.
So, let's hear from you. There's only a few days left to send in your nomination, so don't proctrastinate!
Have a good week,
Tim DiChiara
