FROM THE EDITOR

Craig Mullins in the spotlight
[by Tim DiChiara]

Data management guru and author Craig Mullins has long been a favorite on SearchDatabase.com and has answered over 300 of your DB2 and database administration questions over the years.

Now it's Craig's turn in the spotlight. He was featured last week in the "Experts on Demand" section of our cool Expert Answer Center site. He answered general questions about data security, specific questions about column naming in DB2 v8.1 and even tackled several SQL Server and Oracle questions.

Also be sure to check out his excellent daily blog, in which he pontificates at length about current trends in the DBMS industry and their future, essential books for database pros, the continued relevance of the mainframe, DBA certification and much more. It's evident from these entries that Craig is a knowledgeable, articulate and opinionated writer.

If you have your own questions for Craig, he is always willing and able to answer them -- ask away.

Have a good week, Tim

ASK THE EXPERTS: Updating a local table from company tables
Question: "My company stores data in SQL tables. These tables contain a lot of data that is of no interest to me. I have developed procedures that will extract the data of interest to me from several tables and put it into a new SQL table. Since every month several hundred new entries are added to the original tables, how can I extract just the new entries and add them to the new SQL tables I created?"
