PINK SLIPS LAND AT LOTUS AND IBM | Boston Globe

IBM is laying off hundreds of workers across the company, including
an undisclosed number at Lotus. The cuts are centered in IBM's global
services business and may come as a result of the
PricewaterhouseCoopers acquisition. A Lotus spokeswoman said the
layoffs will not have a "significant impact" and reflect a
"rebalancing of skills" within the organization.

MICROSOFT GETS SET FOR GREENWICH TIME | CRN
It's almost "Greenwich" time, and Microsoft is getting ready. The
company is tooling the Windows XP client for realtime communications
and the digital rights management add-on services for Windows Server
2003. The Windows XP Peer-to-Peer Software Development Kit has also
been released. Developers and solution providers can use it to create
apps that let end users communicate and collaborate in realtime,
including via IM. 

IETF CREATES ANTISPAM RESEARCH GROUP | Computerworld
As spam problems worsen for businesses and consumers, the Internet
Engineering Task Force is going on the offensive by creating a panel
called the Anti-Spam Research Group to look for new ways to beat back
unwanted e-mail.
