IBM trims its NY workforce

Earlier this week IBM announced the elimination of 40 jobs from its Endicott manufacturing plant, calling the workforce reduction part of its ongoing effort to efficiently allocate resources. Nearly half the job cuts came in Big Blue's bank systems unit.

GPS phone for kids a good call for parents

If cell phones were cereal, a new one from South Korea's SK Telecom Co. would be Lucky Charms. The company has cranked out a sweet mobile that's tailor-made for kids -- it comes in cool colors and has an antenna shaped like an ear. What the kids may not know is that the phone also packs a GPS device so Mom and Dad always know where their little wireless wonder has wandered. So it's the cell phone that's really good for kids -- maybe it's more like Life cereal.
