New group pushes for standard calendars
[e-Pro Magazine]

IBM offers free Cloudscape resources
[InternetNews]
Developers can now go to IBM's developerWorks Web site to download a free copy of the Java-based Cloudscape database that Big Blue donated to the open-source community. They can also find articles and technical advice there.
Open source e-mail rival debuts
[vnunet]
Netline's Open-Xchange Server aims to provide an open-source groupware alternative to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes. The company has now issued the code under the General Public License in an effort to get more resellers and developers to back and enhance the product.
POLLS:
Poll: Your reaction to the end of R5 support?
How does Lotus' statement that R5 support will end in Sept. 2005 make you feel? Cast your vote in our new poll.
PREVIOUS POLL RESULTS: In our last poll, we asked what you thought about the recent Radicati Group controversy surrounding its Microsoft/Lotus white paper, and if you considered its findings valid. Here's what you and your peers told us.
ADVICE:
Ask Brian Mahoney: Updating structure of private Notes and local views
Dear Brian: How can I automatically update the structure of private Notes view and the local view?

TIPS:
Tip: Zip from LotusScript in Notes/Domino 6
LotusScript does not have a native class for compressing files to .zip format. This tip shows you how change that, if you are running Notes or Domino R6 (or newer), by using the ability of LotusScript to make calls to functionality that is available in the Java language.
Is that REALLY Ed McMahon calling?
[The Register]
Star 69, Star 70, Star Jones -- and now Star 38 is about to be a star "Star." New site www.Star38.com is a Web interface to a Caller ID spoofing system. Subscribers can use the system to pick the number they want to pop up on the recipient's Caller ID screen. This could mean creditors, in-laws and scorned loves could try to pass themselves off as someone else -- Publishers Clearing House maybe -- to hoodwink the person on the other
end of the line to pick up.
Star38.com eventually may hit some legal snags, but for now, beware the spoofers.
