A number of Linux vendors are none too happy with Sun after the company's Chief Competitive Officer dissed mainframe Linux earlier this year. But Red Hat's CEO claims his company is willing to work with Sun on open source technologies, diss or no diss. After all, Sun and the Linux community have bonded through their rivalries with Microsoft. J2EE STILL DOMINATING APPLICATION SERVERS | vnunet According to a report from a Butler Group analyst, Java will rule the app server roost, IBM and BEA will see their app server dominance dwindle (thanks to Sun?), and Web services won't take off for a while. The report's author said .NET is focused more on the future than the present but is the most reliable platform for XML Web services so far. And when .NET comes around, Java will be there to challenge it.
