MS plans to bring the open source Web server heavyweight into the .NET family. Developers will be able to build links to Apache Web servers using the ASP.NET software layer. More than half of all Internet sites use Apache, which competes with Microsoft's own IIS. .NET is making for some strange, or at least bitter bedfellows -- MS has also extended .NET to Oracle's database products, with a DB2 version possibly in the offing as well. A few of the original UltraSPARC designers are coming back to Sun now that the company has closed the deal on Afara Websytems. Don't try this anywhere! Catherine Simpson, 11, of the U.K. was trying to scan her face, but the scanner wasn't cooperating. It grabbed her lip and wouldn't let go. Evidently Catherine's kisser got caught in a roller on the scanner. Firefighters had to come in and perform some...um... lip service for the poor girl. Her lip's fine -- her face-off with technology was no kiss of death and won't leave any lasting scars. But when Catherine grows up, you can bet she'll think twice before making a photocopy of her bum on the office copier.
