Hmm:
Well, guess this presents a problem. I have dual on-board AIC-7899 SCSI
controllers and my understanding is that I need the latest kernel from
Red Hat in order to be able to properly install and get the system up
and running.
What I thought I could do was download all of the files and do a hard
drive install, after updating all of the RPMS to the latest. Apparently
I can no longer do this. I'd like to ask if some serious consideration
could be given to putting this option back in.
As a side note, does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find
new ISOs with all of the latest Red Hat updates? I would like to make
sure the integrity of the format stays the same, and that the only
changes made are the removal of the old RPMS and the addition of the new
ones. I'm not looking for any customized ISOs please.

Yes you can, but you need both isos (not the files) and of cource you
need
them in a partition that won't get nuked during install.
