Harry, are you running lm sensors? If so I am courious what temps you are seeing on the
CPU. For that matter does anyone have any additional information wrt cpu temps they see
with the heatsink and fan combos that come with the retail package of AMD processors.
I am looking to upgrade also and I have pretty much decided to try to avoid via
chipset mobo's
but I am still trying to decide if I should buy the retail package that includes the 3
Yr.
warranty and the heatsink/fan combo or get the OEM package and spec out my own
heatsink/fan
combo to try to get something that runs cooler. For the record I do NOT overclock. I
am sure
the 3 Yr. Warranty is worth something but I am not sure what since it does not cover
overheating and I have never had a processor < 3 yrs old go bad.
Also Harry what if anything did you do about your heating the room problem? I am in
the process
of remodeling my computer room and I am thinking about building a cabinet underneath my
bench (I am going to put kitchen counter in so I can have 16 ft. of benchtop
workspace) and
putting a kitchen exhaust fan that vents out into my garage. I would put it on a
thermostat
so it only runs when it is hot. I need to look into something remote mounted with a
duct
I think to keep the noise down. I think I could put a sliding door on it so I can get
to the
cd and floppys when necessary.
