Do you have a default route set in your network setup? (What is the
output of "route -n" with the network up?) If you have a default
route set for your local network, then the PPP connection can not set
its own default route, so you can not get the the Internet. You normaly
do not need a default route for you local network, unless you have a
connection to the Internet that uses that route.
