Good Morning:
Anyone else having problems with the updated samba RPMS? I downloaded and installed these. I saw some error messages come up when I moved over my smb.conf file, so I went back to the default smb.conf supplied just to make sure it wasn’t me.
1) smb and nmb do not appear to stay running. Every time you do a /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb restart, it comes up and says failed for shutting smb and nmb down (which tells me they weren’t running to begin with, and then comes back with ok when it brings them back up. A quick ps –ef shows nothing running though.
2) One of the lines in the smb.conf file mentions ssl CA certFile. Samba appears to be barking at this line, as it gives an error message stating it is an unknown variable, and it is ignoring it. Almost looks like Samba wasn’t compiled with support for certificates.
3) When attempting to add a user through smbadduser, I get the error message, “/proc/11334/fd/15: no such file or directory”. Samba still appears to add the user, however, I have no idea what this error message means.
Again, I’m working with the latest samba-2.10 RPMS from the updates.redhat.site and the default smb.conf file supplied. Would like to hear if anyone else is seeing the same problems, and what you needed to do to fix them.
- Mike
