Try a traceroute or traceroute -I to the sites and watch the response
times, perhaps it helps isolating the problem.

Subject: [Semi-OT] Web pages time out

Sorry, but this really doesn't have anything to do with RedHat per se.

I've found that recently I can't make connections to certain web sites.
They
just time out. For example, www.zdnet.com always times out. I've tried it
with
Mozilla, Netscape, Konqueror, Opera and Lynx. Another one is
directory.utexas.edu. I don't have any problems with almost all other
sites.

I've turned off iptables, snort, and named and I still have the problem. I
don't think I am running anything else that would interfere. Also, my
colleague
across the hall on the same subnet, also running RedHat 7.1 is not having
any
problems. (I can connect to those sites when running Windows from this
machine,
as well.)

Does anyone have any idea of what the problem could be? This is driving me
totally nuts!
