Hi,

Running RH 7.1 linux on Pentium II with all available updates installed
(no rawhide). All packages are i386 rpms no i586 or i686 rpms. Boots
fine on Pentium class and above.
On two totally different 486 hosts I tried to boot using the same HD. Hd
metrics in BIOS are set correct.

Twice I get: "Freeing unused kernel memory" and then it hangs.

Got this both for redhat linux kernel 2.4.3-12 and linus linux 2.4.7.
Boot floppy using these kernels: same result.

I added some lines to the kernel source to know what is going on. It
gets to the point where /sbin/init is executed.
Is either /sbin/init incompatible with 486 or should I suspect a
different problem?
