My (second-hand) understanding is that PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunnelling
Protocol), often used for VPNs in MS-land, uses
port 1723 (to make initial contact, I think) and
the GRE protocol, which is IP protocol 47 (*not* a TCP or UDP port).
