OK,
I should have made it a bit more clear
I know I can use traceroute, whois,
(arin, apnic, ripe)
I was just wondering if anyone had an easy
way to determine the physical country source
of a list of IP addresses (but as I said
originally - a non-manual method!)
I would like to be able to distribute
a list of IP addresses to country
sources for a web site I do some work
for. Their current system already
produces reports based on country but
I would be surprised if it is actually
correct.
I also get port scans almost every day
but I ignore them coz I couldn't be
bothered doing manual lookups and of
course EVERY ISP I have sent a message
to regarding port scans has ignored me.
Jack, thanks for broadcasting my home
address :-( I did know how to lookup
who owns a domain - have had to do that
in the past - but that doesn't mean
anything - it is only traceroute that
gives a true path to an IP address
e.g. one of the domains I host is
owned by someone in the USA, but the
IP address is here is AU
Basically, the question is:
Has someone written something that gets
info from ARIN, APNIC & RIPE and
can correctly identify the country an
IP address comes from?
