I'd go with the SCSI drives. The linux md driver is
as fast as most IDE "hardware" RAID controlers
and eaiser to setup.

More space, but harder to expand later.
With the SCSI option:
1) you can add more disks before the controller
is full
2) newer/faster/bigger drives are released as
SCSI version first.
3) you can move to a beter controler for the
array later, perhaps a cashing RAID card that really
is hardware RAID (a processor on the card)
