Root is not allowed to login using pop because of cleartexttransmission
of the password. Since pop3s is just a ssl-tunnel frontend to the original pop3,
root is not allowed to use pop3s either.

Use a normal Useraccount instead:

Create a useraccount using:
# useradd account
# passwd account

Redirect all root email to this account using the /etc/aliases File:
# echo -e "root: root, account\n" >> /etc/aliases

Tell sendmail to use the new aliases File:
# newaliases

Your done. All root mail should be additionally forwarded to your new account.
You can now fetch it using pop3s and do not have to transmit the rootpw in
the process!

Cheers,

Ralf
