I'm glad to hear you got your machine fixed & I hope you didn't take any
damage from the storm.
You have 70M or so in /var, so you should be ok, but you'll probably
want to monitor the free space on /var, because if it fills up again,
you will have troubles again.
It sounds like your original attempt at win4lin installation bombed out
part way through (probably because /var filled up). You've also removed
the rpm's. So I'm not sure exactly what you have on your machine right
now, but here's a couple of things you could try:
(1) if you still have the /var/win4lin/installer_tmp/ directory, there
should be an executable located in there -- "win4lin-install". This is
the graphical win4lin installer. If you run it, it should download and
install any missing pieces, and then walk you through the setup.
(2) If you keep getting the message about not running a win4lin enabled
kernel, you could try manually downloading and installing a kernel, and
see if that fixes things. For pre-compiled kernels:
https://www.netraverse.com/member/downloads/kernel_precompiled.php
or if you prefer to patch/compile your own kernels, start here:
https://www.netraverse.com/member/downloads/kernel_download.php
(3) Since this is starting to get off-topic for this list, if you're
still having problems you might try asking netraverse tech support for
help or ask on their mailing list (see netraverse web page to find out
how to access these). Also, feel free to email me off-list, I'll be
glad to try to help some more.
God luck!
