It's usually not a limitation of the filesystem[1]. It may be limitations of
glibc (if using an old one), the binary (if using a binary compiled
against an old glibc and/or without the proper flags) or the kernel
(above the filesystem layer, so it would apply to more than one fs).
Seawolf (RHL 7.1) should handle these files.
[1] Well, not of ext2. Older versions of reiserfs do have this
limitation, and I wouldn't be surprised if FAT has it either.
