Hello,

I hate to have to subscribe to the Zoot list to ask a single question,
so maybe you guys could help me here.

I'm trying to install RH 6.2 on a 486/40Mhz that doesn't have a cdrom
in it. It's got an ethercard in it, and I've exported the cdrom mount
point on my Seawolf machine. The installer comes up fine, and I
successfully configure the network interface, and mount the NFS image.
Everything seems to go well until a certain point which seems somewhat
random, but is most often when the installer says it's "Reading
Package Information". This last time I was able to get past that
point and actually selected the packages to install, checked the disk
for bad blocks, and then it crashed. It always exits with the same
message:

"installer exited abnormally -- received signal 7..."

(almost verbatim).

FWIW, I've had 6.2 installed on this machine for awhile. I installed
the first time from a flaky CDROM drive (which has since bitten the
dust), but had the exact same thing happen several times before I was
able to complete the install.

The signal manpage says 7==SIGBUS. Does this mean I've got a bad
memory chip or other hardware problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ben
