Simple, but to be strictly correct, one formats partitions rather than whole drives. I'll assume you are talking about a second IDE hard drive, and that you want to make it all one ext2 partition.
As root, use fdisk to delete all previous partitions, then create a single primary partition of type 83. Run 'mke2fs -L label_name /dev/hdb1' (specifying a label is optional, but useful), then add the appropriate entry to /etc/fstab. --Doc Savage Fairview Heights, IL At 12:55 10/12/2001 -0700, you wrote: >so how does one format a hard drive in ext2 in linux? > >i have an old windows drive that i want to use on my server, but i don't >want to be stuck with a fat32 drive... > > > > >_______________________________________________ >Seawolf-list mailing list >[EMAIL PROTECTED] >https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/seawolf-list _______________________________________________ Seawolf-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/seawolf-list
