I once had an HP LJ3 printer with a Pacific Page Postscript cartridge.
The Postscript engine in this card was easy to overwhelm with a
moderately complex job. It had nothing to do with the buffer size;
some jobs were just too complex.
I ripped out the PP card and switched to Ghostscript in the spooler.
Never had a problem thereafter.
