We have long ago used a tool called "urpmi" (note there is no "drake" in the name.....) to perform easy install/requests/remove on the rpm's of a system. It's a little bit sad that Red Hat didn't see that it was useful for users and integrate in the distro (that happened with `rpmlint', another MandrakeSoft software). For example there is "urpmf" for "whatprovides" uninstalled packages queries, which works with regexp : [gc@bi ~] urpmf bin/startkde kdebase:/usr/bin/startkde [gc@bi ~] urpmf libpng.so$ libpng3-devel:/usr/lib/libpng.so [gc@bi ~] http://freshmeat.net/projects/urpmi We use it since mid-1999, and it's really handy. To my knowledge, there is nothing specific to Mandrake, so it can be installed and used on a Red Hat system without any problem. -- Guillaume Cottenceau, MandrakeSoft See you on Cooker! http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/cookerdevel.php3 _______________________________________________ Seawolf-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/seawolf-list
