Hi, I am having the following problem and I need some help. I am running
RedHat 7.1 (kernel 2.4.9-31) on an alpha EV67 (21264) with a motherboard
UP1100 with 750 MB of RAM (PC100). The problem that I have is the following.
Each time I reboot the server the amount of memory used (according to free)
is 100 MB approximately. Now, if you wait and run free again you see that the
amount of memory used increases. In particular the amount of cached memory
increases. This goes on and on until there is no more RAM left and the SWAP
is exhausted. Of course, the server crashes. I have seen some other people
complaining about this problem in other lists but, no solution. What could be
the problem ?. Here is a copy of the output of the free command now.

Note that the cached has gone up together with the used memory. This goes on
and on until it crashes. Your help is appreciated. If you need more
