You are both probably more likely to get help if you post your sendmail.cf 
and sendmail.mc files. The stock sendmail.cf file as provided by Red Hat 
will not allow relaying, so chances are good that the problem is with 
something you have changed.
 
http://www.sendmail.org/tips/relaying.html has some useful information as 
well.
