It sounds like what normally happens when a computer goes down in an
abnormal way, at least if you don't have journaling file systems. What
you should do is probably what was advised on your screen around the time
it said the filesystem is dirty: run fsck to clean up the little
inconsistencies left when the power went off. The command "fsck -a -A"
will clean up all ("-A") file systems listed in /etc/fstab without ("-a")
requiring you to agree to each individual repair. Or, if /etc/fstab is
not available, I guess you can specify which file system you want repaired
with, for example, "fsck -a /dev/hda2" to clean up /dev/hda2.
