I live right near Chicago, Illinois, in Wilmette.

Actually, my experience with Ameritech's DSL service has gotten quite
since it started. The first problem was that they sent the wrong
equipment, but it was easy to replace. The original cd with EnterNet on
it had gone somewhere unhappy (I still haven't found it) during the time
it took to ship the new equipment. I called on at least six separate
occassions to be shipped another cd with EnterNet on it, but all of
those times they sent the cd with everything except EnterNet. Somebody
finally told me where I could download it. Next, it took an incredibly
long time to connect to hosts of websites. That wore off after about
four months, though. Their serves haven't been down (at least not while
I was trying to use their service) for a fairly long time, which is
good!

The main problem that I have with Ameritech is their customer support.
I have a Mac and the Linux box. The customer service representitives
had next to knowledge about Macs, and weren't able to help me with any
problems (except the one that told me where to download EnterNet from).
One representitive said, "I haven't seen a Mac since grade school."
Linux being slightly more obscure, I'm no confident in their software's
ability to support Linux and their knowledge to be able to help me if
anything goes wrong.
