Open up the computer - clean it if it is dusty - check the cables
from the motherboard to the hard drive are plugged in properly
(push them in again) and see if that fixes it.
If it is an old computer it could be this or a 'failing' hard drive
I've had both happen with old PC's - one the HDD got replaced, the
other it was just the cables needed to be unplugged and pushed back
in

Hopefully that will help - if not then the HDD may be failing?
Or it could be something someone else may know the answer to.
