The directory size shows you the number of blocks per inode on the filesystem. Usually Red Hat Linux defaults to 4096. The only way to change it is to reformat the partition, causing the destruction of all data on that particular partition. If you have room, move the data somewhere else, and reformat (man mke2fs). Why do you want to change the blocks/inode?
