Make a boot diskette from your Linux installation...then, when you're done
installing Windows, you can boot from the floppy, and then rerun "lilo" to
put the lilo boot sector back in place.

The workaround for this is actually not too difficult.

First, make a directory on your Windows partition (I usually call it
"Wininst"), and copy the ocntents of the Win98 CD into it.

Next, boot into Command Prompt Only mode.

Now, from the root directory, rename Windows to something else (I usually
call it "oldwin"). This is so that if the new installation isn't what you
hoped for, you can always delete the new installation, rename "oldwin"
back to "windows" and have your old installation available.

Now, cd to the "c:\wininst" directory, and run "setup".

The last thing to note is that when the installer asks you where you'd
like to install, it will ask you if you want to install it to "c:\oldwin"
or an alternate location. Select the alternate location, and then tell it
"c:\windows".

Voila!!! You get a clean installation of Windows, and you don't lose your
data. And, once you're sure that the installation is usable, you can
delete your "oldwin" directory and free up a ton of disk space.
