It doesn't matter what you call the files. The name of the file is
specified in the "file" directive for the corresponding entry in
named.conf. They just need to agree.

They may have some defaults if they have GUI tools to configure BIND,
but they certainly aren't mandatory. They don't redhatify BIND. You
should certainly be safe following the "DNS and BIND" book conventions.
