Hi All,
After trying to configure my modem and the dial up
connection to the Internet I can no longer boot my Red Hat 7.2. It hangs on
Bringing up ppp0. Below are the emails I found and I tried to follow the
instructions for changing ifcfg-ppp0 after booting using: linux emergency. The
problem is that the ifcfg-ppp0 file is system and read only. I checked it's
attributes and it has rw but when I open it in vi, it firts tells me "Unable to
open swap file for recovery". After that I can do the changes just fine but when
I try to exit vi and save the changes (:w!) it says ifcfg-ppp0 Can't open file
for writing. I tried to copy or rename the file but the system wuoldn't let me
do it saying: Read only file system.
After that I tried booting Linux using: linux single but
it hang on sh-2.05.
What else can I try? Please help!
Katrin

Change ONBOOT=yes to ONBOOT=no. Mikkel -- Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. <snip>
