I hope this is the right forum. If not, just point me in the right direction, please.
I have been running Seawolf at the original (to me) kernel version of 2.4.2-2 for sometime. I finally decided to let up2date update the kernel for me. It seemed to go pretty well, but there are two issues. First, my console screens (Ctrl-Alt-F1, etc) are all black with no visible text. Since I am set up to go directly to Gnome, I can work around this, but I would like to know what's going on before committing to this kernel;. Also, I tried tweak the configuration file and recompile. I get thru make bzImage OK, but make modules fails and I'm not experienced enough to know why. The last few lines of screen messages follow. Any help on either issue would be deeply appreciated. BTW, this is running on a Dell Inspiron 8000.
